The aim of this workshop is understanding how to get more of your camera in relation to creating nature photographs. When you first pick up a camera with no instructions it tends to be down to luck how the pictures will come out. Then if you look at the instruction manuals or resources like YouTube there’s so much information it becomes overwhelming.

I’ve been doing photography for many years and I’ve found if you break down nature photography to its key elements it’s much easier to understand.

This workshop will look at the key different elements which go together to make an interesting nature picture and cover them from absolute basics;

Understanding more about how a camera works
The exposure triangle made simple
What is the impact of different lenses (focal lengths)
What is composition, why is important and how do I get better at it?
The importance of light and its impact on photographs
What should I photograph when?
What do I do with my photographs when I get home?

Understanding of these points will really help your nature photography. Making sure you get sharper images, make the right decisions, plan your day or just increase your chances of getting better images when you go for a walk in nature.

The workshop is more aimed to beginner photographers or photographers who want to become more confident.

The location of the course (near Wheldrake Ings, York) means that we can have a warm comfortable classroom environment to cover many aspects of the day but we can walk outside the classroom and be in a nature environment to practise what we have been talking about.

The workshop is suitable for any cameras from smart phones to the latest mirrorless the only requirement is wanting to get better at nature photography.

The cost of the workshop will be £90 and will be limited to 6 people
