The Sea of Ice

One of the things I love about the region around Abisko is the uniqueness of the images which can be found. 200km above the arctic circle the weather and conditions mean that every day can be different. In this unique image lake Torneträsk had previously frozen and then a big storm had smashed all of the lake ice into small glass-like fragments. The storm had created a bank of the ice fragments nearly 2m high and other ice fragments in the waves. I used a long exposure to create movement in the waves but not too long of an exposure.The classic view of Lapporten (Čuonjávággi) is in the background.
