The Strid

The Strid is a famous narrow stretch of water on the river Wharfe at Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales. It is notoriously dangerous and there have been a number of fatalities at this site. On this day I visited the area with friend and fellow photographer Lizzie Shephard and I thought I saw a different view which may work. Using a longer focal length than would be normally used I photographed The Strid from a low angle. Because of the long focal length this gave an extremely shallow depth of field so this actually the combination of three photographs which I have stacked together to increase the depth of field.
